This travelling teddy bear has visited some of the Stans.
The Stans gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. These countries share a Persian suffix, “-stan,” meaning “land of” or “place of,” and are defined by their deep Silk Road history, rugged landscapes, nomadic cultures, and growing reputation as an off-the-beaten-path travel destination. We have not been to them as yet, but here are the ones we have visited. Kazakstan, Kyrgystand, and Uzbekistan.
