Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan saw us visiting locations. In Tashkent we mostly enjoyed the Jazz festival. Samarkand was more interesting with it’s Registan Complex housing three magnificent madrasas (Islamic schools). The experience that filled my furry heart the most, though, was when we spent 3 nights with a lovely family in Boston Village with Couchsurfing.com hosts,. Here we enjoyed being part of the community by volunteering in a local kindergarten. We helped in the home too, making cheese balls with one of he host’s daughters, sorting raisins, and washing a rug by foot! Meals were prepared in handmade straw, mud (and maybe poo) kilns and fire stoves. And, for two of our three nights, we slept under the stars on the wood platform that meals were taken sat on.
